Wat als we in onze snelle wereld zijn vergeten hoe we echt contact kunnen maken met onszelf en onze omgeving? Dit is de vraag die mijn werk onderzoekt, via een mix van schilderijen en beelden.
In het centrum van mijn werk staan wolkenkrabbers. Voor mij symboliseren deze de huidige maatschappij: alles moet steeds sneller, hoger, groter, efficiënter en goedkoper. Volgens mij gaat dit ten koste van ons als mens en van onze omgeving.
Naast de gebouwen beeld ik poppetjes af. Ze hebben lang in de torens geleefd, maar voelen zich daar niet meer thuis. Ze zijn vertrokken en op zoek gegaan naar een nieuwe wereld. Tijdens hun reis onderzoeken ze wie ze werkelijk zijn, door opnieuw verbinding te maken met hun hart. Ze keren zich af van het over rationaliseren en creëren een wereld die wel aansluit bij hun behoeften.
Hun reis manifesteert zich in schilderijen, keramiek, staal en fotografie.
Wanneer je kijkt, nodig ik je uit om verbinding te maken met jezelf, en aan te sluiten bij de zoektocht naar een mooiere wereld.

What if, in our fast-paced world, we’ve lost the ability to truly connect with each other and ourselves? This is the question my work explores, inviting you to rediscover these vital connections through a mix of multi media.
At the center of my work are standing skyscrapers, which for me symbolize current society. This society is constantly pushing to be faster, more efficient, taller, and bigger, yet doing so at the expense of both humanity and the environment.
Alongside these buildings, I introduce a group of characters (poppetjes). They have lived in these buildings for a long time but no longer feel at home. As a result, they embark on a search for a new world, escaping the city. Through them, I express my own search for connection, using their journey as a way to explore and create new worlds.
In their journey, they seek to rediscover who they are and reconnect with their hearts. They turn away from rational thinking and create a new world together, one that meets their needs. This process unfolds through painting, ceramics, steel, and photography, each medium helping to shape the world they are trying to build.
